The Greatest Enemy Of Dreams

“The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.” Sylvia Plath

When we begin to question our ability to achieve our dreams we start to lose what is actually possible for us. We let fear and doubt crawl into our lives and in the worst case, completely paralyze us from taking any more action.

If we go further with this analogy, it’s this same fear and doubt that will eventually be our complete downfall when we enter into the playing field with significant amounts of competition and against people who are more cutthroat.

Dreams are going to take everything you’ve got. Dreams are going to demand your attention, your care, your time, your patience and everything else in the book. They are going to need you to be on top of your game every single day and take no days off. When you decide to slack on your dreams, you really have no idea how long you’ve set yourself back.

When you overhear someone talking about their dreams and what’s possible for them you can get the sense that they really do believe it’s going to happen. Of course they don’t have all the kinks figured out and know exactly what the path is going to look like, but you can hear the possibility of it happening nonetheless.

But when you listen to someone who is talking about their passions, and you get a sense that they are slightly on edge about it all, you can be pretty sure that they will never achieve what they set out to do. It’s not that you are rooting against them, but it’s that you know dreams take everything and giving it less than that, well, it just won’t work out in any way.

So pour yourself into what you love and let doubt disappear from your mind. Others may say it’s not practicable, but the impossible has been achieved many many times all throughout human history.

Go for it. Give it a shot.
